WINERY BACKGROUND: Tikal wines reflect the spirit of Mendoza: the sense of pride, love, celebra on, and a bit of craziness. Ernesto Catena spent his childhood in the vineyards of Mendoza among wine-growers and local characters. A skilled horseman, so ware developer, and modern photography gallery owner, Ernesto pursues all that gives pleasure in life. This hedonism (in the best sense of the word) shows through in his wines. They have a style meant to provide enormous pleasure rather than provoke contempla on; an expression of emo on rather than intellect. He has named his wines with passion in mind: Patriota (Patriot), Amorio (Love Affair), Jubilo (Rejoice), Locura (Madness), and Natural (Naturally). Ernesto named this par cular wine “Natural” to convey his commitment to organic and eventually biodynamic vi culture. Can “Ernestodynamic” farming be far behind?
WINEMAKING DETAILS: The vineyard is located in Vista Flores (Tunuyan) and is cer fied Biodynamic. The grapes are grown organically and hand-harvested and aged 10 months in 80% French, 20% American oak; 10% new, 90% 2nd & 3rd use. Natural is Cer fied Biodynamic.
TASTING NOTES & FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: This is Malbec and Syrah in their most natural expression of untouched grapes shining through and capturing the true essence of the biodynamic vineyard where they were picked. It has a beau ful pomegranate color and aroma of fresh red cherries with light French oak undertones. The palate is fresh and lively with black raspberry and spiced mocha notes. A great companion to barbeque or burgers, and incredibly easy to drink on its own. A real crowd pleaser.
